MAE Professor Sridhar Idapalapati and team lead work on implications for debonding process of adhesive joints

Environmentally friendly bonding methods of structures are well known but disassembly techniques of bonded structures have significant drawbacks such as high energy consumption and sacrificing the bonded materials wastefully.
Professor Sridhar Idapalapati and team recently published in Composites Part B (Impact Factor: 9.078) a disassembly method that decreases the overall energy consumption by localized Joule heating and that also eliminates the need to sacrifice the components (e.g. cutting or replacing) after debonding.
