MAE student - Daryl Chionh and team won 2nd place in Sustainable Hospitality Challenge 2023

Congratulations to Daryl Chionh from the School of MAE and his team for their exceptional achievement at the Sustainable Hospitality Challenge 2023!

They were awarded second place with their design - The concept is an immersive mixed reality-enabled gamified environment with a storyline, complemented by a physical resort designed to maximise the guest experience. Resort guests would immerse themselves into this story, interact with nature like never before through a series of missions, and also see the impact they have on this world and learn how they can save it.The goal of the concept is to provide an entertaining and otherworldly experience for guests, but also to shift their mindset towards realising how even their small daily actions can make a huge impact on sustainability in our world.

"SHC 2023 was a once in a lifetime experience for me to work with students from across the globe on the issue of sustainable hospitality. It was a tough but rewarding experience working with them on our mixed-reality gamification concept, Nexus! It was also interesting to see how sustainability is seeping into hospitality, ranging from eco-tourism to sustainable soap considerations. I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity to travel to places such as the Netherlands and Abu Dhabi which was extremely enjoyable!"
