Singapore is the land of multicultural aggregates, which unites Chinese, Indian, Malay, Europeans, and people from neighbouring countries such as Vietnamese and Thai together. Along with them, they bring various aspects of cultures including religions, school of thoughts, lifestyles, performing arts, etc. and cooking is the unique one. Cookery is a method of concocting delicacies from starting ingredients and it varies from one group to another. Thai cuisine stands out from those because of its intense scents and aromas, intricacy of preparing the dishes, and regional variety of dishes. Even though Thai food is considered exotic in Singapore, people can encounter several Thai stalls across the Island from hawker centres to fine-dining restaurants. But do those stalls really know the true nature of Thai food? Do they use the correct and original ingredients? Is the food seriously cooked by Thai chefs? That is quite questionable.

Thus, learning how to prepare Thai dishes to appreciate its true tastes sound EDUTAINING! In addition, cooking can be a refreshing way for students to destress themselves after all-day-long heavy and intense schoolwork and enjoy their meal with their own hands! In this cooking classes, students will have the hands-on experience to cook two popular and well-known Thai dishes, Tom Yam Kung and Green Curry, and one dessert, Rice Ball in Coconut Milk with Sweet Boiled Egg,  in a correct and convenient way and they will have the chance to taste their own meal!

Skin is the largest organ in our body serving as the first line of defence against infection. The soap we expose ourselves to on a daily basis may contain synthetic fragrances and additives that we definitely do not welcome with open arms. Cold-processed soap method is a great option if we want to customize soap down to the last ingredient. Unlike hot-processed soap, which cure (or undergo saponification) at an elevated temperature, a cold-processed soap cure without any outside sources of heat. The lack of heat keeps the essential oils intact and in perfect condition to lather the user in therapeutic goodness.

In this programme, we will show participants on how soaps were made from vegetable oils via saponification process. Extra soaps that have been made can be sold in the market to self-sustain the programme in the future (e.g. next year). This event aims to empower participants the skill to make their own soap and if possible to engage the community (especially the underprivileged one) in the future to make soap as a way to earn extra income.
