Project Group – BaikMotor

Project Title:
BaikMotor - "E-bike made easy"

Description:

Many people shun away from using the bicycle as a last-mile transport as they do not want to get sweaty and be in an unpleasant situation thereafter. Just like how ‘Baik’ means ‘Good’ in English, Baik Motor aims to provide its users with a good and pleasant last-mile riding experience in which they can ride comfortably and with ease. Portability and convenience is key to Baik Motor. It can be easily fitted onto any bicycle within 5 minutes. Baik Motor powers the bicycle through its chain, unlike its competitors who are powering the bicycle directly via the wheel, thereby enabling more control to assure its users' safety.

Experience:

“This experience was genuinely an enriching one. Being a student in Computer Science, I had not and would not have been exposed to a tangible product development module had it not been for EG9003. It has not only made me a better engineer, but a more creative and driven individual. I hope to employ these soft and domain skills to better our product and the vision we’re trying to achieve with it.”
- Sanath

“If you want to take on a challenge while simultaneously learning about product development in a fun and comprehensive way, this course is for you. This course provided me with technical knowledge as well as opportunities to strengthen my soft skills. With the help of my teammates, Dyson mentors, and NTU professors I was able to create a product that I would never have envisioned of on my own.”– Jyona

“The module was extremely holistic and allowed me to improve and develop new skills, these include tuning my mindset to one of an entrepreneurs, as well as tactics to improve the likelihood of a project’s success. In addition, I was also exposed to the values of Dyson and hope to continue improving myself during the James Dyson Award competition”
– Jefri

“EG9003 is what you will not want to miss if you are looking for an extraordinary and once-in-a-lifetime experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team and under the guidance of engineers from Dyson to develop product with the vision of an entrepreneur. You will be building everything from scratch – from identifying the problems your team wants to solve, to developing the product that addresses the needs of the intended customers, to validating with potential customers/investors and to pitching your products to potential customers and investors. Truly an eye-opener!”
– Yeo Tze Ler

“I like the fact that I have learnt so many things that just couldn’t be learnt by simply reading textbooks, like how to work with a group people, how to start making a product, how to propose it to potential investors, and to always have an entrepreneurial mindset. I would say before taking this course, I’ve always thought of being an entrepreneur is something that is distant to me, but this course gave me a taste of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur and made me realize that I can really be one as well.”
-  Yap Jia Herng

“Throughout this course, I learnt the intricacies of product development. My journey introduced me to new individuals and new ideas, all of which help make me better prepared for a career in engineering moving forwards.”
