Masagos Zulkifli Bin Masagos Mohamad
Mr Masagos Zulkifli is presently Singapore’s Minister for Social and Family Development, Second Minister for Health & Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs. He entered politics in 2006 after being elected as a Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC, and was appointed Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Education. From 2015 to 2020, Mr Masagos was Minister for the Environment and Water Resources. Mr Masagos was appointed Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs in May 2018.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Masagos Zulkifli steered the ministry into rolling out national schemes such as the COVID-19 Support Grant and the COVID-19 Recovery Grant, providing financial support to those in need. Under his leadership, the Ministry of Social and Family Development designated 2022 as the Year of Celebrating SG Families, a whole-of-society movement which celebrates the importance of families involving corporates, community partners, collaborations between government agencies, and individuals.

As the Second Minister for Health, Mr Masagos chairs a taskforce to oversee development and implementation of plans to enhance Child and Maternal Health & Well-being. Through his leadership, MOH announced the Family Nexus pilot, which will allow families to access various services at a one-stop community node near their homes, and facilitate better integration of health and social services.

Mr Masagos is also Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs. Under his leadership, the M³ framework was launched, a collaborative effort between the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis), MENDAKI and PA MESRA to strengthen last-mile service delivery of programmes and empower the community. Through his guidance, MUIS successfully convened the International Conference on Communities of Success to discuss and shape religious leadership for Muslim minority communities and develop contextualised bodies of knowledge for Muslims. Mr Masagos also serves as Chairman of MENDAKI. Mr Masagos previously gave back to the community as former president of Muslim non-profit organisation Perdaus.

Mr Masagos has been a Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC for 16 years, and acts as Adviser to Tampines Grassroots Organisations. He is also Chairman of Our Tampines Hub, the community and lifestyle hub that serves over 250,000 residents and brings the community together. Mr Masagos supported the roll out of the Tampines five-year masterplan to transform the town into an eco-town by 2025. This year, he helped launch the Tampines Goes Farming initiative, which includes a pilot hydroponics programme, rooftop gardens and vertical gardens.
Mr Masagos played a key role in the formation of Mercy Relief in 2003. Today, it is Singapore’s leading independent disaster relief agency and has executed 97 disaster relief operations and been active in 26 countries.
Mr Masagos is a previous recipient of the Nanyang Distinguished Alumni Award (2013) and Nanyang Alumni Achievement Award (2008).
