A selective interdisciplinary Second Major programme with perspectives from chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, and industry.
Have you ever wondered what chemicals are present in the food we eat? Or how foods are treated and packaged to ensure that they are safe to consume? There is a large and important field of science and technology dedicated to understanding food, and coming
up with new ways to improve how we source, prepare, handle, and consume it.
This undergraduate programme is run by the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) in
partnership with Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and NTU's School of Biological Sciences
. Topics covered include food chemistry and microbiology, food process engineering, biomedical nanotechnology, and food safety analysis. Students also undertake a semester of overseas exchange at Wageningen University, a world-renowned centre
of Food Science and Technology research.
