Youth excels at NTU

Haikal Afiq Mohd Rizal, a People’s Association (PA) scholarship recipient, volunteers as a mentor with the Mendaki Tuition Scheme and various grassroots groups under the PA. Despite volunteering throughout his four years at NTU, Haikal maintained academic excellence, and he will be graduating with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Sociology with the Highest Distinction and a second major in Public Policy and Global Affairs on 31 July. Haikal shared that his volunteer work does not affect his focus on his studies, adding that what he learns in school can be applied to volunteering. He now manages grassroots organisations, ensuring government information reaches residents and conveying residents’ feedback to the authorities. Haikal plans to pursue a master’s degree in sociology in the future.
