Xi Jinping criticises unilateral bullying without naming names, says it undermines international order

Amid the United States military’s extradition of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Chinese President Xi Jinping criticised acts of unilateral bullying that undermine the international order, without naming the US, and urged major powers to uphold international law. NTU Assoc Prof Dylan Loh said the move gives China greater moral ground to criticise US hegemonism or unilateralism, but noted that Washington’s direct show of force currently appears more effective in advancing its national interests.
