Women aged 21 to 49 more likely than male peers to accept being single, married without children: IPS poll

Women aged 21 to 49 in Singapore were likelier than men of the same age group to find it acceptable if an individual chooses to remain single, according to an Institute of Policy Studies survey unveiled at the Singapore Perspectives 2024 conference. One reason could be that women are worried they will not have equal partnership in running the family. To address this, Asst Prof Shannon Ang from NTU’s SSS said at a conference panel that couples ought to have “difficult conversations” about re-negotiating their roles in the family.
