Wellness, Culture, and Connection - A Fresh Start to 2026!
The Migrant Workers Wellness Carnival (MWWC) 2026, hosted by the SSS Club, kicked off the year with a vibrant celebration of wellbeing, cultural exchange, and community engagement.
Held at Kaki Bukit Recreational Centre on Sunday, 8 January, the carnival brought our SSS students and migrant workers together through activities that foster wellness, gratitude, and intercultural understanding.
This year’s theme drew inspiration from Pongal, the South Asian harvest festival celebrating abundance and thankfulness. Pongal-inspired elements such as kolam art, traditional snacks, and a Gratitude Wall created a warm, culturally grounded environment for connection.
- Health & Wellness Screenings – our student volunteers, in collaboration with Project Migrant Health Matters (MHM), conducted basic health checks and shared simple wellness tips to support workers’ physical wellbeing.
- Interactive Pongal-Inspired Booths – Games like Ring Toss, Mini Bowling, and Collaborative Kolam encouraged playful cultural exchange.
- Sports Activities – Frisbee, dodgeball, and other energizing games, with hydration stations, offered opportunities for fun and camaraderie.
- Shared Meals & Conversations – meals paired with guided conversation created meaningful opportunities for students and workers to reflect on gratitude and community.
