US and China locked in a two-horse race for AI technology; Singapore faces new core challenges

In a public lecture held at NTURSIS, Singaporean economist and NTU emeritus professor Tan Kong Yam explored the US-China competition on artificial intelligence technologies. He said that AI has fundamentally changed geopolitics, and the impact is not from a single technology, but from the entire ecosystem. The increasingly crucial factor is no longer who can develop the most powerful AI model, but who can build an international ecosystem encompassing AI investment, manufacturing, deployment, and governance.
