Trump reportedly urges Chinese and Japanese leaders to meet

US President Donald Trump has reportedly urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to lift export restrictions on Japan and meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, seeking to protect US economic interests and reassure allies as China-Japan relations worsen. Assoc Prof Koga Kei of NTU SSS noted that Trump’s ability to facilitate dialogue remains limited, as Beijing insists on separating its relations with the US and Japan, while disagreements over Takaichi’s Taiwan-related remarks continue to obstruct high-level exchanges.
