Wang Yi warned Washington that encouraging Taiwan independence would lead to confrontation between China and US

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is attending the Munich Security Conference in Germany, warned that if Washington decouples from China or incites Taiwan independence, crossing Beijing's red lines, it will lead to a confrontation between China and the US. NTU PPGA's Assoc Prof Dylan Loh said that Wang Yi emphasised the importance of stable China-US relations and reiterated the inviolable red line of the Taiwan issue. Although uncertainties remain ahead of Trump's visit to China in April, both sides have demonstrated the political will to promote a 'soft landing' in relations.
