SSS Kicks Off Project Goody 2 Shoes with Creative Fundraising Effort
The NTU School of Social Sciences (SSS) community officially kicked off Project Goody 2 Shoes, a dual-phase community engagement initiative designed to support underprivileged children in partnership with Children’s Wishing Well (CWW).
The project commenced with Part 1: The Sneakers Art Jamming Workshop, held on Saturday, 15 November 2025. The event was met with tremendous success, drawing together a diverse group of SSS alumni, students, and staff. Participants channelled their creativity, transforming plain white shoes into unique, vibrant masterpieces. This session not only offered a valuable opportunity for the SSS community to reconnect, relax, and showcase their artistic talents but also served as the primary fundraising mechanism for the entire project.
The success of the Sneakers Art Jamming Workshop is essential to the project's mission. Every dollar collected through participation fees for this event will be directed to the budget of The SPEED Programme (Sports and wEllness for Every chilD). These funds help ensure that beneficiaries receive quality sports gear and apparel, supporting their journey toward an active and healthy lifestyle.
The SSS community's commitment aligns directly with the School’s enduring values. Beyond its academic remit, SSS maintains a strong commitment to service and community engagement, consistently putting its core values into action through a variety of community service initiatives and outreach programs. Project Goody 2 Shoes is the latest testament to this dedication, highlighting the community’s belief in showing up where it matters most.
The SSS community is now gearing up for Part 2: The SPEED Programme, scheduled for Monday, 1 December 2025. This will be the meaningful highlight of the fundraising effort, where SSS volunteers will act as mentors, accompanying 20 children from CWW on a dedicated shopping trip to Decathlon to select their new sports essentials.
The School sends a big thank-you to everyone who took part. Your generosity and creativity have helped move this project forward, and every step we take together brings us closer to serving our community in a meaningful way.
