SSS Faculty weighs in on Singapore’s evolving governance model
Dr Kwa Kai Xiang, Lecturer from our PPGA programme, was featured on BNN News in a Cantonese-language report discussing the Singapore government’s new policy initiative to extend liquor licences for Boat Quay and Clarke Quay venues until 4 am on Thursdays and Fridays as part of a one-year trial.
In his commentary, Dr Kwa highlighted that “the Singapore governance model is not static; it is dynamic. It evolves according to the needs of the people and the priorities the government deems essential to drive Singapore’s social, economic and cultural development.”
He added that given Singapore’s open and dynamic economy, attracting not only investors but also tourists is vital — and the city’s nightlife scene plays a key role in enhancing Singapore’s position as a vibrant global destination.
