Putin publicly backs China's Ukraine peace plan

Before he left for China, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he backed China’s plan for a peaceful settlement of the Ukraine crisis. NTU PPGA’s Asst Prof Dylan Loh said Beijing’s peace plan continues to lack details and is highly consistent with Moscow’s strategy, making it easy to get Putin’s support. He said Russia-China relations are at its best, adding that Putin has leverage over China because Beijing hopes to be supported by Moscow in geopolitical issues such as those involving South China Sea and Taiwan.
