Project Goody 2 Shoes: A Heartwarming Finale with the SPEED Programme

On 1 December, the SSS community concluded Part 2 of Project Goody 2 Shoes – The SPEED (SPorts and wEllness for Every child) Programme, in collaboration with Children’s Wishing Well - a registered charity founded in 2002 and the only organisation in Singapore dedicated to the holistic education of children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The children come from low-income families, and some have parents who may be ill, incarcerated, or absent from their lives.

This meaningful session took place at Decathlon, where 15 children were paired with our SSS volunteers for a guided learning and shopping experience. Volunteers first received a short on-site briefing before partnering with a child to go through the programme’s shopping list and requirements. Together, they then moved through the store to select sports apparel and footwear, allowing the children to apply budgeting, decision-making, and planning skills in a practical, supportive setting.

The children impressed us with their thoughtful choices and strong budgeting instincts, turning the experience into both a joyful outing and a valuable learning moment. The warm interactions between volunteers and the children made the day especially meaningful and reflective of the SSS spirit of care, empathy, and community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making both the Art Jam fundraiser and this mentorship journey a success. Together, we created impact.
