Prabowo promises to continue building the new capital when he takes over

Assoc Prof Sulfikar Amir at the School of Social Sciences, NTU Singapore, who is researching Indonesia's new capital project, said in an interview with the Lianhe Zaobao that Indonesia's plan to relocate the capital was conceptually the same as Brazil's move of its capital from Rio de Janeiro to Brasília in 1960, but was larger in scale, more expensive, and would have a much greater impact on the people and the environment than the Brazilian relocation effort.
