Pentagon points out China's "historic military expansion"

The Pentagon released a report on Chinese military power on Tuesday, stating that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) is undergoing a "historic military expansion," posing greater risks to the US. This annual report - a first on Chinese military power released during President Donald Trump's second term - portrays the PLA as becoming increasingly advanced and resilient, while remaining cautious about reaching large-scale agreements with the US. NTU PPGA's Assoc Prof Dylan Loh said the PLA has always been a major security challenge for the US, and that the Pentagon report paves the way for the US's own nuclear weapons expansion and Trump's Golden Dome missile defence system.
