NTU Expert Comment: Channel 8, Hello Singapore (6.30 pm), 15 March (with CCO video)

Researchers at NTU and Tan Tock Seng Hospital have developed a mobile app that can educate diabetes patients and caregivers about care instructions and information about the disease and how to pay attention to their daily lives, including medication use and eating habits. The research team developed the app called WellFeet, which mainly hopes to help diabetes patients avoid developing serious complications such as foot ulcers. The WellFeet app conveys relevant educational information to patients through animations in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil. In an interview, NTU SSS and LKCMedicine Assoc Prof Andy Ho said that after testing WellFeet for a month, 40 patients and caregivers at Tan Tock Seng Hospital said that the app was easy to use and they also learned better about taking care of their feet and following the steps to control diabetes.
