Our Sociologist is now the President of the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction

Associate Professor Patrick Williams, an accomplished cultural sociologist and social psychologist, has a proven track record of conducting research on youth cultures and subcultures, self and identity, digital media, and games. He specializes in micro-sociological research utilizing ethnographic and other qualitative research methods.

SSS@NTU is proud to announce that he will assume the role of President of the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction, an international scholarly association of sociologists. He will begin his tenure this summer and serve until the summer of 2025.

Symbolic interactionism traces its roots back to the 1930s and is one of the three major sociological paradigms. This appointment reflects Associate Professor Williams's significant professional accomplishment and underscores his scholarly leadership in the field.
