Singapore’s new family measures shift from rewarding childbirth to supporting parenting. Notably, the new policies ensure that every Singaporean child is treated equally, regardless of their birth order or their parents' marital status. NTU Asst Prof Shannon Ang said the policy puts children’s welfare at the centre and could build a more family-friendly society, regardless of whether it raises fertility rates.
