Don’t know how to spend your $500 CDC vouchers? Here’s how to use it meaningfully
About 1.38 million Singaporean households began receiving S$500 in CDC vouchers on June 11, after the latest tranche was brought forward by six months from January 2027. On The Big Story, NTU Asst Prof Yeow Hwee Chua from the School of Social Sciences discussed how households can use the vouchers meaningfully and plan their spending amid continued uncertainty. Prof Chua said it cannot cover all household expenditures but can help to buffer and reduce cost-of-living pressures. The vouchers are also practical support for immediate needs like food and groceries. The bigger concern is whether global energy prices or product costs rise again, due to uncertain global outlook.
