Faculty of Cultural Sciences UNDIP Hosts Distinguished Visiting Professor from the Sociology Programme
The Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Diponegoro University (UNDIP), was honoured to host our distinguished sociologist, Professor Kamaludeen bin Mohamed Nasir, as a Visiting Professor from 29–30 June 2026.
On the first day, Prof. Kamaludeen delivered a public lecture entitled “Constructing Ethno-Religious Identity: Islam, State, and Society in Southeast Asia,” held at the History Department Meeting Room, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UNDIP. The lecture offered an in-depth and comparative analysis of how ethnic and religious identities are formed, negotiated, and governed across Southeast Asian societies, with particular reference to Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
In addition to the public lecture, Prof. Kamaludeen conducted a two-day scientific writing workshop designed specifically for master’s and doctoral students. The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to develop rigorous research outputs suitable for publication in reputable international journals. The programme also included one-on-one mentoring sessions, during which postgraduate students received personalized feedback on their article drafts.
The School of Social Sciences is proud of Prof. Kamaludeen’s outstanding academic contributions and his continued engagement with regional and international partners. His Visiting Professorship not only strengthens institutional collaboration but also serves as an inspiration to our postgraduate students and early-career researchers.
