Chinese Foreign Minister visits UK for the first time in 10 years: Trump's return will help warm up China-UK relations

Experts say that the high uncertainty brought about by the return of US President Trump is one of the factors that has driven the improvement of relations between China and the UK, and both sides have benefited from it.  Asst Prof Dylan Loh from the Public Policy and Global Affairs programme at NTU Singapore said that the past few Conservative governments have pushed Sino-British relations to a low point, and the Labour government has only brought the relationship back to a "relatively normal" direction.  Another key factor is that in the face of the high uncertainty of the Trump 2.0 era, the UK, like other countries, hopes to maintain friendly relations with China. "Trump may impose punitive tariffs even on close partners. In this sense, the UK should have as many friends as possible,” he said.
