China issues stern countermeasures against Japan; reports indicate another halt to seafood imports

Following Japan's refusal to retract Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's remarks about Taiwan, China reportedly suspended seafood imports from Japan again. This comes after China started importing seafood from Japan again earlier this month. China also warned of severe countermeasures to come. NTU’s Assoc Prof Dylan Loh said China's escalating countermeasures are very strong and that the Japanese government did not anticipate them. He believes these countermeasures have been meticulously planned to primarily impact specific industries, especially the tourism industry.
