China hits Takaichi with tougher export curbs on Japan firms

China has blacklisted 20 Japanese entities and tightened scrutiny on others, signalling continued pressure on Tokyo despite Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s recent landslide win. Top military suppliers, including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries affiliates, were added to an export control list, while firms such as Subaru and Hino Motors were placed on a monitoring list subject to stricter licensing checks. “China is clearly not letting up the pressure in spite of the Japanese PM’s landslide results,” said Dylan Loh, associate professor at NTU, noting the rules could “restrict alleged militarization and also deal a blow to these companies directly.”
