China: Its policy toward Japan will not change due to a particular election

After Japan’s ruling LDP, led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, won a strong lower house election victory, China said its policy toward Japan remains consistent and urged Tokyo to retract Takaichi’s “incorrect remarks” on Taiwan. NTU’s Assoc Prof Dylan Loh said Takaichi is unlikely to push constitutional revision soon, with domestic economic issues set to dominate her agenda at least until the 2028 upper house election.
