China's "red line" strategy is expected to force Japan to retreat

Tensions between China and Japan are rising as the former raises diplomatic, military, and media pressure following its advice for citizens to avoid visiting Japan. NTU’s Assoc Prof Dylan Loh noted that China’s actions are expected, and that Japan is unlikely to respond. He added that although relations are off to a rocky start under Japan’s new leadership, the situation remains manageable as long as it does not escalate beyond verbal confrontation.
