Average water consumption of one- to three-room HDB flats fell by 7% to 10% this year

The average water consumption of HDB residents has dropped, in light of rising water prices in the past year and rising awareness of water conservation. Data from SP Group showed that in April this year, the water consumption of residents of one- to three-room HDB flats fell by 7% to 10% year-on-year. NTU Asst Prof Chua Yeow Hwee said it is important to develop small habits to save water, such as turning off the tap when brushing teeth, using a basin to wash vegetables, and gathering clothes to wash in a single laundry load. These habits do not cost extra but will help with saving water and bills in the long run.
