Morning Shot: Australia’s Teen Social Media Ban — Could Singapore be next?

Australia is now enforcing a world-first ban on social media accounts for anyone under 16, compelling platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat to verify ages and remove underage users. The move has sparked a global conversation about online harms, parental responsibility, and how far governments should go in regulating digital spaces for young people. As countries watch to see what works and what doesn’t, Singapore faces its own questions about balancing youth safety, privacy and practical enforcement.
