Morning Shot: Can ASEAN rise to be an influential global convening power?

Southeast Asian leaders have urged for a swift agreement on a code of conduct for the South China Sea based on international law and called for an immediate halt to the fighting in Myanmar, along with inclusive peace talks to resolve its civil war. This consensus was reflected in the ASEAN chairman's statement following meetings between ASEAN member nations and diplomats from the U.S., Russia, China, Japan, India, and South Korea. Speaking to MoneyFM, Assoc Prof Kei Koga, from NTU's School of Social Sciences, who shared insights on the key issues discussed at this year's ASEAN Summit.
