Officially appointed MPs resigning to run for election may go against the original intention of being non-partisan

Nominated MPs Raj Joshua Thomas, Syed Harun Alhabsyi have resigned from their posts. NTU Assoc Prof Walid Jumblatt Abdullah said the nominated member of parliament system is an important part of the country's political system, providing a platform for non-partisan independent voices who have no electoral agenda to protect the credibility of the non-partisan system as society becomes more polarised.
