Malay Muslim leaders welcome Faishal’s appointment, hope to achieve shared goals
The community leaders have welcomed the news of Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim’s appointment as Acting Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs, succeeding Mr Masagos Zulkifli Masagos Mohamad. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced the appointment on 21 May. Dr Walid Jumblatt, associate professor at NTU’s School of Social Sciences, said that he was not surprised by Dr Faishal’s appointment. “If you have ever met Dr Faishal, you would know no one has anything bad to say about him because he’s a genuinely kind person. I think it’s a good move by the PM,” said Dr Walid.
