A 26-Year-Old’s academic journey: Overcoming challenges and thriving against the odds

Jordon Sim, a Public Policy and Global Affairs student from NTU, has overcome significant challenges throughout his educational journey. Initially placed in the Normal stream, he worked hard to transition to the Express stream in secondary school and later achieved outstanding O-level results. Despite facing self-doubt and stress in his first year at NTU, Jordon found relief through activities such as cycling and joined the Chinese Orchestra. He plans to pursue a career in the public service. Another NTU graduate, Ryan Tan, is an advocate for the Chinese language. The Chinese Studies graduate is committed to improving Chinese proficiency in Singapore through education. Now a Chinese teacher at a secondary school, Ryan aims to inspire his students to develop a strong appreciation for Singapore’s Chinese culture. This year, NTU will hold 24 graduation ceremonies until Aug 1, celebrating 12,106 graduates across various programmes.
