More than half of 13-year-olds hit by parents; boys punished twice more as girls

A joint study by NTU, NUS’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, KK Women's and Children's Hospital and A*STAR's Institute for Human Development and Potential has found over half of Singapore's 13-year-olds experienced corporal punishment in the past year, while around 80 per cent faced verbal abuse from their parents. The study was led by NTU Assoc Prof of Psychology Setoh Peipei and its first author is NTU researcher Tang Yaoqi.
