SSS Students come out tops at NTU Peak 2018

The heartiest congratulations to two of our students who bagged awards at NTU Peak 2018 – Nur Hidayah Sawal and Chun Win Ee! They were the two out of seven students from School of Social Sciences who participated in this leadership development programme. Only 40 high potential students from College of Engineering, College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, College of Science, and Nanyang Business School were specially selected and enrolled in this programme.
NTU Peak is a one-month intensive programme that the Career & Attachment Office (CAO) co-develops and co-designs with Industries to develop high calibre NTU students into industry-relevant future leaders for the workplace and community. Through this programme, students get to network with CEOs and/or Senior Management of NTU’s industry partners, and are guided by experienced industry mentors to solve authentic business issues. The participating organisations for this year’s NTU Peak are Mediacorp Pte Ltd, PSA Corporation Ltd, Rolls Royce Singapore Pte Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited, and Tetra Pak Jurong Pte Ltd. The finals and award giving ceremony was held on 12 March 2018.
Nur Hidayah, a third year Sociology undergraduate, received two awards – Best Presenter and Most Promising Leader Award – from PSA.
“Being part of the Peak programme was an exciting and enriching journey,” she shared. “Not only did I get an opportunity to recommend solutions to a problem that PSA is currently facing, I got to work under mentors whom I have learnt a lot from about leadership and making decisions in the real-world. I was very surprised when they announced my name for the first award, what more the second! I did not expect to win the award because the other participants were of high calibre so I am very thankful for the recognition I have received.”
Third year Psychology undergraduate Chun Win Ee received the Most Promising Leader Award from Standard Chartered Bank. He said: “I felt surprised and extremely humbled as there were many deserving leaders that I drew inspiration from. It was a great form of validation and encouragement that will spur me on going forward. And aside from the knowledge, skills and experience acquired, another set of takeaways precious to me are the friends I have made through this journey. They have inspired me, supported me, and learned alongside me. They are friends I will keep in contact with long after this programme.”
