In a commentary, NTU economist Assoc Prof Yip Sau Leung analysed the impact of the China-US trade war. He suggested that the Chinese government set up a dedicated department to assess the long-term feasibility of enterprises that have been hurt by the trade war. While this was not a real war of bullets or nuclear weapons, the trade war could see the rise of parties with ambitions for supremacy.
