The percentage of those who had received Workplace Income Supplement who were seniors increased from 40 per cent in 2015 to 43 and 46 per cent respectively in 2016 and 2017. NTU labour economist Prof Chew Soon Beng said the number of employees who are in the seniors age group is increasing but there are few who stop working. As their salaries remain the same, they will continue to receive the subsidies.
