Inflation has been at a lower level from 2014 to today, as compared with between 2010 and 2013, but the perception of inflation based on people's personal everyday experience remains persistently higher than the published inflation rate since 2014. Prof Ng Yew Kwang, an NTU economist, said one reason could be that price hikes are more noticeable than the dips.
