According to the Ministry of Manpower, there were 1.05 openings available per job seeker in September this year. Prof Chew Soon Beng, an adjunct professor in economics at NTU NCPA, said the job openings available are largely from the service sector. Should the ratio drop to 1 or less than 1, job seekers will face more pressure in their job search. He advised job seekers to be prepared that wage expectations ought to be aligned with the market rate.
