A survey on what makes youths happy or sad, it was found that most boys viewed results as a top source of happiness. Asst Prof Andy Ho from NTU’s Division of Psychology said this reflects to a certain extent the traditional value that Asian males are the main breadwinner to provide for the family. It is also not surprising that students view losing friends/family and health as what will make them most unhappy, as these are major crises to humans. If formal education curriculum can let youths better understand that life and death are a natural part of life, it will help them to build their emotional capacity to cope with life adversities.
