Abstract
Research around food security, sustainability and resilience in cities have burgeoned in the past decade. Against the background of rapid urbanization and climate change, ensuring the means to feed ourselves will become an increasing challenge in decades to come. In this talk, I will examine how questions of security, sustainability and resilience are conceptualizeed in this area of study. Using Hong Kong as a case study, I will present an overview of the city’s urban food system, examining responses from the government and on the ground movements. In doing so, I hope to share some of the critical insights I have gained through working in this interdisciplinary area of research.
