Biography
Dr Chen Tuo-Yu is a gerontologist and an occupational therapist by training. He received his Ph.D. in Aging Studies from the University of South Florida. Currently, he works as a postdoctoral fellow in the Ageing Research Institute for Society and Education (ARISE) at the Nanyang Technological University. He is also a Faculty Affiliate in the Center for Healthy Ageing at the Pennsylvania State University. The overarching theme of his research is the promotion of health and well-being in the ageing population. His research concerns various physical and mental health outcomes, such as chronic conditions and geriatric syndromes (e.g., pain, sleep, depression, fear of falling, impaired mobility, and falls), among community-dwelling older adults. He is also interested in health-related factors that help maintain older workers’ workability as well as physical and psychological health. His research has appeared in several top-tier journals such as Sleep, The Journals of Gerontology Series B, Geriatrics & Gerontology International, Journal of Applied Gerontology, Preventing Chronic Disease, Supportive Care in Cancer, and Journal of Ageing and Physical Activity.
