In a joint commentary, Assoc Prof Teo You Yenn, head of sociology at NTU School of Social Sciences, and Asst Prof Ng Kok Hoe from NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy wrote how they carried out their research to derive at the minimum income (S$1379) required by Singapore’s elderly to fulfil their basic requirement. They hoped that this research can contribute to forming a society where everyone lives a quality life with dignity.
