Regarding the Sri Lanka blasts, Assoc Prof Kumar Ramakrishna, Head of Policy Studies and Head of National Security Studies Programme at NTU RSIS, said bombs were triggered at churches and hotels where many Europeans and Americans stayed, and also on Easter Day, which may be an act of revenge for the mosque attack in New Zealand’s Christchurch. Asst Prof Walid Abdullah from NTU School of Social Sciences said a similarity between the Sri Lanka attackers and the gunman in New Zealand is that they do not believe that people of different faiths can co-exist peacefully. He added that there needs to be tolerance among races and religions, as well as harmonious co-existence.
