​Migrants in Singapore mostly from Malaysia

The diverse group of migrants in Singapore, including those from Malaysia, China, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Macau, has tripled in the last 30 years from 1990 to last year, according to figures from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. Sociologist Zhan Shaohua said the UN data shows the diversity in Singapore. “This will, in turn, increase people’s understanding of each other’s cultural differences,” said Dr Zhan from NTU.
