Ukraine Ambassador among the graduates from NCPA at Convocation 2019

July is the season of graduation. Over 9,000 in the Class of 2019 from NTU graduated in 20 ceremonies from 22 July to 31 July, with the first ceremony presided over by Singapore President and NTU Chancellor Halimah Yacob.

 

Approximately over 40 students from Nanyang Centre for Public Administration’s (NCPA) Master of Science in Managerial Economics (Chinese), Master of Public Administration (Chinese & English) and Master of Arts and Contemporary China [now restructured as Master of Social Sciences (China and Global Governance)] received their degrees at the Convocation ceremony on 25 July.

The Presiding Officer of the ceremony this year was Mr Goh Sin Teck, member of NTU Board of Trustees and Editor of Lianhe Zaobao and Lianhe Wanbao. He is also a Lien fellow of the Lien Ying Chow Legacy Fellowship programme under NCPA. Coincidentally, the guest speaker at the convocation Mr Douglas Foo, President of Singapore Manufacturing Federation and Nominated Member of Parliament of Singapore is also a Lien fellow. At the morning ceremony, Presiding Officer Mr Goh Sin Teck and Dean of College of Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences Professor Joseph Liow conferred the degree upon the graduates.

 

His Excellency Dmytro Senik, Ambassador of Ukraine to Singapore, Brunei and New Zealand was one of the 28 graduands from NCPA's Master of Public Administration (MPA) in English this year. H.E. Dmytro Senik is the first ambassador that graduates from NCPA. During his Convocation speech, he said, "At the NCPA, I have studied Singapore's best practices in public administration to apply the knowledge in the Ukrainian context as my country is committed to reforms in the public service to achieve efficient and clean government with zero tolerance to corruption." He added that he would share what he learnt in these two years with more Ukrainian officials, and discuss how to apply the knowledge in Ukraine. He also hoped that there would be more chances for mutual learning between the two countries in future. 


Coming September, NTU Singapore will also hold its annual NTU China Convocation for its Chinese graduands in Hangzhou, where more graduands from NCPA's Chinese master-degree programmes will receive their postgraduate degrees.
