Programme Opening Ceremony for AY2020-2021 EMME and EMPA Programmes

On 8 March 2021, Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) held a programme opening ceremony for its new intake of Executive Master of Science (Managerial Economics) and Executive Master of Public Administration students. Mr Kang Kai, Counsellor (Education) and Mr Qiao Dan of the P.R. China Embassy in Singapore also attended the ceremony to welcome the 42 new students.

In his welcome speech, Professor Liu Hong, Director of NCPA, gave an overview of the Centre’s developments since 1992 and its future plans. The number of students has increased significantly, from more than 40 students in 2014 to more than 400 students this year. The Centre has gone from strength to strength in its 30 years of development and is well poised to receive Chinese students who see education as not simply a one-way transfer of knowledge but also a process of mutual learning.

After Mr Kang’s speech, Class Representative Ms Wang Sisi, who is from the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, spoke on behalf of her classmates. She said, "The COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped the students from studying. The reason why I chose to study at NCPA is not only because of Singapore’s outstanding public administration experience but also Nantah’s good academic reputation and international status, the faculty strength of NCPA, well-designed courses, enriching study visits and in-depth exchange activities."
