Dr Chew Soon Beng was a Professor of Economics and Industrial Relations at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore). He received his PhD from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He is the author of Small Firms in Singapore (Oxford University Press), Trade Unionism in Singapore (McGraw Hill), Employment-Driven Industrial Relations Regimes (Avebury), Values and Lifestyles of Young Singaporeans (Prentice-Hall), Foreign Enterprises in China: Operation and Management (in Chinese). Dr Chew’s latest book is Labour Economics and Public Policy in Labour Markets: Managing Labour Markets for Competitiveness (World Scientific Publishing Company) in 2017.

Dr Chew has also published in journals such as the Singapore Economic Review and the China Economic Review. His recent publications include “Union Social Responsibility” in International Journal of Comparative Labour Law and Industrial Relations, and “Strategic Collective Bargaining” in Bulletin of Comparative Labour Relations. His current research interests include labour markets, trade unions, fiscal prudence and competitiveness.

Dr Chew was one of the founding members for launching the Master of Science in Managerial Economics to train senior officials from China in 1998 when he was in the Nanyang Business School at NTU. This master programme has been regarded as the Mayors’ Class programme by the print media in Singapore. In 2012, Dr Chew started the Master of Science in Applied Economics programme at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, NTU Singapore.

周孙铭博士是新加坡南洋理工大学经济学和劳资关系领域的教授。他早年在加拿大西安大略大学获得博士学位。曾经出版了《新加坡小型企业》、《新加坡的工会主义》、《就业驱动的劳资关系制度》、《新加坡年轻人的价值观和生活方式》、《在华外国企业:运营与管理》(中文版)等专著。他的最新著作《劳动力市场中的劳工经济学和公共政策:让劳动力市场管理更具竞争力》由世界科技出版公司于2017年出版。

此外,周博士还曾在《新加坡经济评论》和《中国经济评论》等期刊上发表论文。他近年发表的文章就包括在《比较劳动法和劳资关系国际期刊》中的”工会的社会责任”,以及在《比较劳动关系简报》中的"战略集体谈判”等。周博士的研究兴趣包括劳动力市场、工会、谨慎财政和竞争力。

1998年任职于南大南洋商学院的周博士为来自中国的政府官员参与开设了管理经济学硕士学位项目。这个硕士项目后来被新加坡媒体赞誉为“市长班”。2012年,周博士又在南大的人文与社会科学学院开设了应用经济学硕士项目。 ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
